Piccadilly Circus, Eros and the NFL

Piccadilly Circus, Eros and the NFL

Piccadilly Circus, Eros and the NFL. Original oil painting on wooden panel by Roger Turner. 40.2 cm x 50.5 cm. the statue of Eros on an overcast day in London. As ever there were throngs of people there, tourists taking in the scene. I have removed a number of people that were in the original image to draw the eye to the couple in the foreground so that the activity sweeps around Eros, bringing the eye from left to right. This oil painting is offered framed and is signed on the front by Roger.

This Artwork Is For Sale Including The Frame As Shown

This is my attempts to capture the vividly, bustling energy of Piccadilly Circus in London. The artwork features the iconic Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain with its prominent statue of Anteros at the centre. The backdrop showcases the grand Edwardian architecture of the surrounding buildings, adorned with ornate windows and intricate detailing. Red double-decker buses, a symbol of London, weaving through the square filled with pedestrians.

In the foreground are a variety of figures, each engaged in their own activities—some tourists taking photos, others walking or simply enjoying the vibrant atmosphere. Attention to detail is realised with the semi-realistic portrayal of the people's attire and expressions, as well as the texture of the pavement and the architectural elements. The painting is framed in a sleek black frame with a gold inner border, adding an elegant touch that complements the historical and lively subject matter.
