Mevagissey Harbour At Low Tide: Original Oil Painting of a traditional, picturesque working fishing village in Cornwall, England. The painting showing the harbour at low tide with beached fishing boats. Painted on wooden panel 68.5 X 49 cm. This artwork is signed by Roger on the front and back of the panel. Mevagissey at Low Tide was shortlisted and exhibited at the Mall Galleries in London for the Artists & Illustrators Artist Of The Year Exhibition 2014. It has also been used for a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle by Gibsons Jigsaw Puzzles
Mevagissey is popular with tourists. The busy harbour consists of an inner and outer harbour, a safe haven for pleasure craft and a fleet of small fishing boats. The village centre has a maze of narrow streets with shops, seafood restaurants, cafes and pubs and many buildings around the harbour that are related to the fishing industry and the sea. Mevagissey Harbour at Low Tide is for sale. Signed by the artist on the front and back
The foreground is dominated by an array of colourful fishing boats, their hulls resting on the exposed seabed. The boats, painted in bright hues of blue, red, and white, are intricately detailed with ropes, nets, and various fishing gear. In the middle ground, the calm harbour waters reflect the vibrant colours of the boats and the surrounding buildings, adding depth and vibrancy to the scene. The background features a hillside densely packed with quaint houses, their facades painted in a mix of pastel shades and earthy tones. These houses, with their white-framed windows and sloping roofs, cascade down towards the harbour. The stone harbour walls and piers, along with the bustling quay, suggestive of the lively, active fishing community.
